Have you ever walked into a Target, Best Buy, or Macy’s store and seen messages from those businesses welcoming you or alerting you to special promotions?

How do they do that?

It is called Proximity Marketing and it uses a tiny Bluetooth beacon device to transmit a message directly to your cell phone when the phone is within the broadcast radius of the beacon device.

Directly displaying a custom message or video to a nearby cell phone has obvious marketing applications for the real estate industry.  CAL Property Solutions and Town 2 Country Realty, Inc. recently used this innovative technology to boost the marketing reach for a property listed on the MLS.  A Bluetooth beacon was placed in the home so that the radius of influence covered the street in front of the house, as well as a couple of houses in each direction.

The beacon’s message contained a picture of the staged living room plus a hyperlink to a video of the entire home and a “For additional information” button.  The number of cell phones that received the message varied from  about 25-45/day and potential buyers asked “…how did you get that message on my phone…

We are convinced that our Proximity Marketing efforts helped sell this property” says Debbie Morgan, Owner/Broker of Town 2 Country Realty, Inc.  This technology is now being integrated into the other marketing programs used by Town 2 Country Realty, Inc., as well as CAL Property Solutions.
